I have always been a creative person throughout my life, however it was not until 2014 that I began to pursue it professionally. Painting became a focal point in my life in 2013. I began to use art as therapy. I was coping with the diagnosis of my father, Joe Columbus, with cancer. My father left his physical form on June 9th, 2015. I continue to paint in his honor, and pay tribute to him with my art and carry on his legacy to “Live with Love.”
My path to artistic expression began under unconventional circumstances, but it has brought me to face my truths. Art has provided me more than I could ever repay. As I continue my artistic career, I will inspire others to find their own truths, and to search for the Love within all of us.
Jenny an abstract expressionist painter, she uses a intuitive approach to her creative process. Jenny has a background in teaching art as therapy. I am so grateful to all Jenny as taough me as an artist, and my artistic journey would not be complete if it were not for the love she has given me. Jenny is my soulmate. Her artwork is stunning, with her use of color and texture. It can be descried as “A visual Delight.” Jenny and I have built a life for ourselves centered around gratitude and LOVE, as well as our girls Penny and Nova.
PEOPLE & COLOR
This collection of work emphatically titled “People and Color” represents my view of a “person of color.” This body of work was inspired in 2018 through many social interactions and with the goal of pushing the narrative of equality forward. All of the people consisting in this series had a impact or inspiration on me as person in one time or another.
I first began developing my Phantom Faces brand in 2016. I was experimenting with doing a surrealistic face. I decided to use the one-line technique or discipline to help me let go of my expectations, of the visual outcome of the face. This allowed me to loosen up and let my creativity flow organically. I played around with a variety of shapes, as well as versions of the faces before developing a signature style of a boxed face. The loose almost mask-like disguised faces that connect with the audience in many different ways.
